Wendy's Bio
Wendy first came to Durham as a Duke student more than 30 years ago. She is married to Dr. Michael Meredith, a Duke Primary Care Physician. Michael and Wendy have three children, Caleb, Eliza and Zach, who have all been educated in Durham Public Schools. Zach currently attends Jordan High School, Eliza is a freshman at Duke. and Caleb is a junior at NCSU School of Engineering. Wendy and her husband recently completed the renovation of the Rivermont Springs property, an historic home in Durham.
Wendy’s experiences volunteering with Operation Breakthrough as a college student was part of her inspiration to become a public school teacher. Wendy taught in Durham Public Schools (DPS) and has been an involved parent volunteer in DPS throughout the education of her three children. As an active member of her neighborhood, Wendy led the campaign to create New Hope Preserve, a 100 acre natural park. Her experience in land use issues led to Wendy’s appointment to the Durham Planning Commission for more than six years. Wendy is currently serving a second year on the Superintendents Budget Advisory Committee and works for Unique Places, a conservation driven real estate and land management company.
